How to migrate

Honest answer: there's no one-click TD-to-Marquee importer today. The data shapes overlap but TD's `.tdt` files don't have a clean export, and the value of porting historical tournaments is mostly emotional. The realistic migration is forward-only:

If you're running a league with active points standings on TD, ping us via the in-app feedback flow before switching mid-season — we can usually advise on a clean cutover.

Try it on your next tournament

Free tier covers a full home-game tournament — no credit card needed. Spin up an account and run a test event before you commit. If you have questions, the migration path above is the realistic answer; most operators run both side-by-side for 2–3 events.

Common questions

Will my TD layouts and screen sets work in Marquee?

No — they're TD-specific (the token system, screen sets, and layout XML files don't translate). Marquee ships preset display layouts (Classic / Sidebar) plus a per-display section-toggle picker; a visual layout editor is on the roadmap. If your TD setup leans heavily on a custom layout, this is the biggest thing to evaluate before switching.

Does Marquee work offline like TD does?

Mostly yes. Marquee is cloud-first but ships a service-worker layer that caches the current tournament state. If your internet drops mid-event, the operator can keep advancing the clock and the TV keeps showing the right level. State syncs back when the connection returns. For a true on-prem fallback (e.g. a hard-line LAN guarantee for a casino setting), see the Mini-PC LAN companion option on the roadmap — it's customer-gated.

What about my custom event triggers and scripts?

TD's Events system (trigger → action pipelines, custom sounds per event, webhook fires) is one of its most-loved features and the most complete among competitors. Marquee has a webhook target on the roadmap (A17) and a TTS-on-trigger system shipped. The full equivalent — operator-defined trigger + action chains — is the next major architectural feature on our list. If you depend heavily on custom Events, this is the biggest gap right now.

Is my tournament data private? Can other operators see it?

Yes, private. Marquee is multi-tenant — every tenant (organization) is isolated at the database level via row-level security. Other operators using Marquee cannot see your players, tournaments, or financials. See our Security page for the full posture (encryption, access control, audit log, what we don't yet have).

Can I run multiple tournaments at once?

Yes, on the Pro plan (10 simultaneous tournaments) and Enterprise (unlimited). Free tier is one tournament at a time. TD historically required a separate machine per concurrent tournament; Marquee runs them all from one admin dashboard.

What does Pro pricing get me vs TD's $130 one-time?

Pro is $9.99/mo and adds: cloud sync across operators, mobile floor view, 10 tournaments + 3 displays, league/season scoring, league points calculation, server-side backups (point-in-time recovery), priority support, plus everything in the comparison table above. Over 14 months you've spent the same as TD's perpetual license — but you get the multi-operator + cloud + cash waitlist features TD doesn't ship at any price. Full pricing page.

Can I keep using TD and try Marquee in parallel?

Absolutely — this is what most operators do during evaluation. Run your next monthly on Marquee while keeping TD installed; switch fully when you're confident. There's no lock-in either way.

I'm on Blind Valet, not TD — is there a comparison for that too?

Yes — see Switching from Blind Valet.
